Good News Everybody!

So, what's your good news? Mine is that I'm going to Baton Rouge in 3 weeks to see my new nephew, who was born on the Friday we were performing with the Denver Gay Men's Chorus. As I recall, it was hot as fuck that day, so hot during the concert that our Director, the incredible wizard Tim Seelig, motioned for us to take our ties off. In all my years of singing I've never had that happen, and praise Sweet Zombie Jesus he did it, because we don't do the heat vurrry well.

Which begs the question, why the hell would I go to Baton Rouge during the hottest time of the year? Well I'm dying to see my new nephew, and just as excited to be able to hang with my lil bro Ace (the new daddy), and see my gal Sissy, who will be just having celebrated her 48th birthday. Lookin' great there Shari! Wish I looked as young.

So that's the good news on this end. I'd love to hear some of your good news...

Peace Out

My version of a movie poster for The Hobbit.

Created in Illustrator and Photoshop
This is what kept me up until 4 a.m. yesterday. (and that's not a complaint)

Birthday Boy

Yesterday was my birthday. And I was up 'til 4 this moanin' creating art (always a good thing... try to bring some beauty into an ever graying world), and earlier that evening I attended Kirtan at the Center for Spiritual Living Santa Rosa (CSLSR). Kirtan if you're not aware, is a form of spiritual service that doesn't have a sermon, but instead is a combination of songs of praise, chants, and spoken prayers. It was the first time I've been able to attend because I usually am teaching on Wednesday nights. And I mention it because this beautiful weird event happened at last night's Kirtan. Someone in the congregation died from a heart attack, and the ambuhlance actually showed up during the service to take the body away.

Anyway the pernt of all that is because it really shows you how precious life is.

And I've decided to go see my 2 week old nephew in Baton Rouge and get to hang with my little brother, Ace... and we ALWAYS have a great time together. So, despite the fact that the heat index down there yesterday was 111 degrees, I'm actually heading to BR in 3 weeks. As the Professor says on Futurama, "Sweet Zombie Jesus!"

Finally, I also weighed in with my nutritionist yesterday. I'm up to 140 pounds!!!!

So all in all, I'd say 49 y.o. is starting out on a really good note.

Peace OUT!
